Sustainable materials
Practical sustainability for industrial packaging
Recycled and recyclable materials and reusable systems, assessed for strength, machinability and intended use — not offered as a label, but as a verified technical choice.
Three routes, assessed case by case
Recycled plastic
Film and bags with recycled material content, where the required performance allows it.
Recyclable materials
Corrugated cardboard, some films and polypropylene strapping, recyclable at end of life through dedicated channels.
Reusable solutions
Thermoformed reusable packaging systems, designed for repeated transport cycles between plants or suppliers.
Recycled plastic: where it can work
Recycled plastic can be an effective choice when it meets requirements for strength, protection, machinability and intended use. That is why we assess it technically: recycled content percentage, required performance, process compatibility and available documentation. It is not a universal solution: for products with very high strength requirements, the relationship between recycled content and performance needs to be verified with a prior test.
Thermoformed reusable systems
For recurring flows between two or more plants, thermoformed reusable packaging systems reduce material consumption on every cycle. They require an initial investment and management of the return of empties: we propose them when the volume and frequency of the flow make them worthwhile.
Cardboard and protective materials
Corrugated cardboard is generally recyclable and is often the first available lever for reducing the impact of a supply, along with separators and foam correctly sized to avoid over-packaging.
Technical checklist before choosing a sustainable material
- What percentage of recycled material is available for that format?
- Does the material guarantee the strength required by your process?
- Is it compatible with the machine or equipment already in use?
- Is technical documentation or a supplier declaration available?
- Does the flow have sufficient volume and frequency to justify a reusable system?
Documents we may request for validation
- Material technical data sheet
- Supplier declaration on recycled content
- Documentary evidence of the declared recycled percentage
- Compliance documentation, if relevant to the client’s sector
Frequently asked questions about sustainable materials
Does a recycled material always cost less than a virgin one?
Not necessarily: it depends on availability, recycled content percentage and required performance. It should be assessed case by case.
Can you guarantee an exact percentage of recycled material?
The declared percentage depends on the material supplier: we request it and share it along with the relevant documentation before the supply.
Are reusable systems worthwhile for small volumes too?
They are generally worthwhile for recurring flows with adequate volumes; for small batches we assess other, more suitable alternatives.
How do we avoid greenwashing in our communications with end customers?
We provide only the technical documentation available: the final communication to your customers remains a choice and a responsibility of your company.
